Rev. Dr. Charles Spomer

Rev. Charles Spomer was born in Minnesota, grew up in Chicago, graduated from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis in 1973. Has served parishes in the Missouri District since graduation. He is married to the former Christine Moeller of St. Louis. They have five children and five grandchildren. Pastor and Mrs. Spomer have been at Ascension since 1996.
 

Arlo Otto, DCE

Arlo grew up in St. Louis and attended Bethesda Lutheran Church and School in Pine Lawn and graduated from Lutheran High School Central/North. He received his degree in education at Concordia Teachers College in Seward. NE. From 1970-1978, he was a teacher and DCE at Trinity Lutheran in Wyandotte, MI.

In 1978, he came to Ascension Lutheran Church as the Director of Christian Education and in 1988 he was moved to his current position as Parish Administrator.

Brad’s job is to work with people to promote connectedness within and outside of the congregation. He visited various groups in the congregation on an informal basis to introduce his work. He has been working with Pastor Spomer particularly to help the elders establish greater connectedness with members and enlist their help in keeping connections with those who may not be as active as we would desire.
 

Sherry Elliott

Sherry was born at Scott AFB, IL and has lived in the St. Louis area all her life. She has been a member of Ascension Lutheran Church since 1977. Her 3 children all attended Word of Life Lutheran School and graduated from Lutheran High School South. She has worked for Ascension Lutheran Church since 1989 and recently became the Administrative Assistant. "I love to be of service to people and am truly blessed to be a part of the staff here at Ascension."
 

Beverly Wynn, R.N.

I would like to introduce myself and family. My name is Beverly Wynn,RN. I have been in the nursing profession since 1973.

My husband Donald Wynn, myself and my children Audrey Treis and Aaron Wynn were members of Ascension from 1979-2004. Both children attended and graduated from Word of Life School. They are both special education teachers. Audrey taught at Word of Life before moving to Pacific, Mo.

Donald is a master cabinet maker. We are happy to serve again at Ascension.
 

Carol Benninghoff

Carol grew up on a farm near Sullivan, MO. She is a graduate of St. John's College, Winfield, KS and earned her Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of MO - St. Louis and her Master's degree in Music Education from Webster University.
She served the church as a Parish Worker in Baltimore, MD for two years before moving to North Carolina and then St. Louis.
She taught vocal music in the St. Louis Public Schools for 14 years and has served several parishes as organist and choir director. She joined Ascension's staff as Director of Music in 1997 and the Word of Life Faculty as Music Teacher in 1998.

She is married to Ken Benninghoff, educator. They have three married children and four grandchildren.
 

Diana Robinson

Music has always been a part of my life…from a student singing in choirs, to an educator leading music classes, and in churches as part of worship teams. I have been in involved with worship teams for fifteen years and in Oklahoma I was the leader for two years.

I am honored and blessed to be the worship team leader here at Ascension now and I look forward to sharing uplifting music with you in praise to our Lord.

Graduated from Concordia University - Nebraska with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a concentration in Early Childhood Education and recently earned master’s degree.
