Gagan Gurung (email) grew up in Bhutan, but along with thousands of other Nepali residents was forced by the government to depart from Bhutan at the age of 14. He lived as a refugee at Camp Beldange 3 in Nepal for 22 years, where by the power of the Holy Spirit he developed a curiosity regarding Christianity. Gagan left Hinduism and was baptized on October 13, 2002. Upon being selected for re-settlement to the United States, he arrived in St. Louis on October 9, 2013, and immediately joined other members of his extended family at the Christian Friends of New Americans (CFNA) Peace Center. He was instructed in the confirmation class and was confirmed at Ascension on January 12, 2014. Presently, Gagan serves on behalf of Ascension and CFNA as a missionary and evangelist among the Nepali people, welcoming new arrivals, leading Bible study, and leading Fellowship on Sunday mornings at the Peace Center.
